The report behind the claim
The investigators reported modification of experimentally induced pupil changes. Pupil response is not evidence of improved vision or safe treatment of an eye disorder.

The experiment in view
The study used rats and guinea pigs receiving atropine and nitric-oxide modifiers. Its principal measures were pupil diameter and time course of drug responses. The investigators reported modification of experimentally induced pupil changes.
Reading the result closely
Changing a pharmacologic pupil response might be undesirable when dilation is needed for examination. An effect has to be evaluated against its intended purpose before it is called a benefit. The ocular route also makes formulation and local safety questions especially important.
The boundary of the finding
Pupil response is not evidence of improved vision or safe treatment of an eye disorder.
Related evidence, kept separate
Retinal injury after nitric-oxide inhibition examines retinal vessels, pressure, behavior and histology over four weeks. Here, the measured endpoint was pupil diameter and time course of drug responses. Those outcomes belong to separate experiments; one is not a replication or a human confirmation of the other. Compare that distinction with the BPC-157 and corneal anesthesia: shorter numbing is not better human eye care appraisal.
